A snapshot of our work

Dear friend in Christ,

The Boniface Group is an Old Lutheran mission society organized for the purpose of evangelizing the Treasure Valley of Idaho and training Lutheran missionaries locally and across the United States.

In the Year of Our Lord 2026, many Christian men find themselves in regions of our country where the orthodox Christian faith has never taken root — that, or it no longer flourishes, having been choked out by the thorns and thistles of false doctrine and hypocrisy.

It is the mission of the Boniface Group to equip such men for the work of establishing Lutheran congregations, providing training, counsel, and resources for them and their fellows to that end.

Every summer, starting this year, we’re going to ask you to consider supporting us financially. We promise you nothing in return, because we are not going to impugn your Christianity or take God’s name in vain by morphing our need and your charity into two halves of a business transaction. God will provide for us whether you give or not. His Word will go forth and accomplish His saving purpose with or without us, here in the Treasure Valley and elsewhere.

At the same time, we are entirely at your service. If you are thinking about giving, you ought to know what your gift would support. The Boniface Group is and will always be 100% transparent about its needs.

Trent D. Demarest was called to the Treasure Valley as a missionary in March 2025. Since that time, the local mission congregation, Holy Trinity Ev.-Lutheran Church of Gem County, has grown from three households to eight. At the time of this writing, others are currently in the process of inquiry (attending church regularly, in conversation with church leadership, open to catechesis and membership) and catechesis (undergoing doctrinal instruction with the intent to become members).

The initial mission donation has greatly defrayed the Demarest family’s living expenses. As the congregation has grown, the fund’s depletion rate has dropped. But it is still being steadily depleted.

It is our prayer that a new giving snowball + monthly mission pledges would help get us to a threshold that would allow Trent to continue with the work of evangelism and teaching full-time, with or without the aid of stipended assistants.

If God wills otherwise, then He will make a way otherwise, and our work in the Treasure Valley will continue according to that other way, and in all things we shall say, “The lines have fallen to me in the best places, yea, I have a most excellent heritage” (Ps. 16:6).

And indeed, we do:
